Welcome to Conifer Class – Year 3 and 4
Teachers: Mrs Pleasants
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Durrant
In Conifer Class we will be exploring lots of exciting topics this term as well as developing our English and Maths skills after a long time out of school.
During daily guided reading sessions we will be focusing on developing our vocabulary and language as well as exploring literal and inference skills.
In addition, every child in the class will be allocated a levelled reading book from the schools reading scheme. For most of the children this will stay in school as the teacher will spend time each week focusing on 1 -1 reading with them.
All of the children will be able to take an extra Library book home with them. Books can be returned every Thursday and exchanged for a new one. We would encourage you to read every night with your child. You could spend time focusing on one page, one word or just discussing the setting and characters.
Homework
Weekly homework will be set on a Monday and will consist of:
Spellings
Reading comments
A short maths task / timetables
This half term our topic is focused on ‘The Anglo Saxons.’ We will be exploring the Anglo Saxons in History, Geography and Art as well as looking at the story Beowulf in English. To find out more about each of the lessons in our topic click on the link below.
